01 THE STORY
Designing for today and tomorrow.
For this bedroom, our goal was something quite different.
A space that feels calm, grounded and functional for the life being lived right now.
Instead of designing only around today’s interests, we designed around tomorrows lives. Layering natural materials, soft textures and timeless details that can evolve as the years go by.
The result is a bedroom that feels fun, yet relaxed, refined and ready for everything that childhood brings.
02 FIVE DESIGN DETAILS
01 The bunk.
The dark timber bunk grounds the room and brings warmth against the softer, tonal palette. Its built-in shelving also gives each child their own little space for books, treasures and the things that inevitably collect beside the bed.
02 The basketball hoop
A playful detail that still feels completely at home within the design. Rather than introducing a bright, plastic toy, we chose a timber and woven basketball hoop that lets the boys’ personalities come through without compromising the overall design.
03 The wallpaper
The oversized check gives the room its character. Soft and tonal rather than overly colourful, it creates enough pattern to feel playful while giving us a beautifully neutral backdrop that can grow with the boys.
04 The lighting
In a shared bedroom, thoughtful lighting matters. Rather than relying solely on overhead light, we considered how the room would be used at different times of day, creating a softer, more comfortable space for winding down at night.
05 The crafts station
One of my favourite parts of the room. A dedicated place for drawing, making and homework gives everything a home, with accessible storage that the boys can actually use themselves. Practical, yes; but still considered as part of the room.
03 SOURCE OF THE MONTH
Basketball Hoop
Sometimes it’s the smallest detail that makes a room.
We loved this basketball hoop from the moment we found it. The timber checkerboard backboard and woven net bring in just enough playfulness, while the neutral palette means it still feels considered alongside the rest of the room.
It’s exactly the kind of piece we love sourcing for children’s spaces, something they genuinely enjoy, without the room feeling overtaken by kids’ furniture.
